Six Weeks' Delay

The plan was to  launch Geru in late May or early June, but Mother Nature had other ideas. As usual, in mid-April the water on the Ottawa River started rising as it normally does in spring. We thought that there might be some flooding as we'd seen in 2017, so we figured we might have a couple of weeks where we couldn't get to the boat. But this time around it was much worse! The flood crest was the same, but the high water stuck around for around six weeks (and is still very high for this time of year!). The flooding coincided with when the weather was finally conducive for boat work. We had several weeks of work to do before putting Geru in the water, so our plans have been set back by about six weeks.
